On the Šmarje Plateau, in front of the Cultural Center, stands a modern and slightly playful pillory (pranger). It was erected in 1995 on the occasion of the first Triennial of Satire and Humor. The pillar is carved with commandments that visitors can read and, in the spirit of play, follow. The square where the pillar stands is named after priest and poet Anton Aškerc, who served as a chaplain in the Šmarje parish between 1883 and 1889, leaving a lasting mark on the town.
