Cultural Center

The Cultural Center is the main hub of artistic activity and the heart of the community. Throughout the year, its hall hosts concerts, theatre performances, dance evenings, and various cultural events that bring together local and visiting artists. Its warm and welcoming atmosphere creates a space where art and audience meet in genuine dialogue. The Cultural Center is a place where culture breathes with the people – where every performance, every note, and every round of applause creates a shared memory of the town.

The building, constructed in 1978, has since shaped the cultural pulse of the area, offering a modern stage and an auditorium that accommodates more than 300 visitors. In 2013, a major renovation was carried out, improving acoustics, upgrading stage and lighting equipment, introducing accessibility for people with disabilities, and adding air conditioning – all of which contributed to an even better experience of events. The Cultural Center is managed by the public institution Knjižnica Šmarje pri Jelšah, which integrates library and cultural activities under one roof.
