Football

Football holds an important place in the sports and social life of Šmarje pri Jelšah. It is a sport that connects generations while promoting physical activity, teamwork, and community spirit.

The Šmarje pri Jelšah Football Club operates on both competitive and recreational levels, participating in regional and national leagues, and organizing local tournaments and events for players, members, and the wider community.

The club places special emphasis on youth teams and its football school, where children and adolescents learn the basics of the game, develop their skills, and cultivate perseverance, discipline, and teamwork. Training sessions are led by qualified coaches who encourage both athletic progress and personal growth.

Beyond sporting achievements, the club contributes to community cohesion. Players, parents, and fans together create an environment that strengthens local pride and respect for sport.

The Šmarje pri Jelšah Football Club welcomes all football enthusiasts — from the youngest to older players — to join as players, volunteers, or supporters, contributing together to the development and preservation of Šmarje pri Jelšah’s football tradition.
