In the immediate vicinity of Jelšingrad Castle, footgolf is developing in Šmarje pri Jelšah, a sport that combines elements of soccer and golf. TIC Šmarje manages the golf course, while the Footgolf Club Erlachstein is the primary promoter of this activity in the municipality, responsible for promoting the sport and organizing competitions and events.
Footgolf is a sport suitable for all ages and skill levels. Players use a soccer ball and try to get it into the hole with as few kicks as possible, similar to golf. The sport combines precision, concentration, and physical activity while providing a fun and social experience.
Footgolf Club Erlachstein also participates in national competitions, promoting the development of the sport as a competitive discipline while maintaining its social and recreational aspect. The club organizes local tournaments and social events, allowing people to socialize, share experiences, and engage the wider community.
