Mary's Church at Sladka Gora

Mary’s Church at Sladka Gora, with its stunning architecture and richly decorated interior, is among the most important Baroque cultural monuments in Styria. Built in the Baroque style, its dynamic architectural design harmoniously blends with the surrounding sculpted landscape.

The church’s interior is equally remarkable. The frescoes covering the ceiling and the choir were painted by Franc Jelovšek, one of the most renowned Baroque painters in Slovenia. Among the artworks, visitors can also admire Jelovšek’s self-portrait, which adds a unique artistic and historical significance to the church.

The sculptural furnishings further enhance the Baroque ambiance — including five altars, elaborately crafted confessionals, and the organ case, which together create a unique, cohesive work of Baroque art.
